Wine tasting is back and better than ever this year! We're heading out to the wine county of Dallas to taste 15 different wines. Su Vino Winery was the first custom winery in Texas and is the recipient of over 30 award winning wines. Come join our educational event and expand your palette!

If you're new to APEX or interested in joining the organization, then please come out and meet us at Starbucks on Campbell and 75 in Richardson . This is a chance for YOU to get to know the officers and the organization better. We'll be there sipping on coffee and ready to muse on any topics.

If you're a regular member and just need a simple pick-me-upper in the middle of the work week, please also feel free to come out and enjoy a mocha latte or espresso with us.

DFW International Community Alliance is proud to announce its selection of the 2007 inductees into the DFW International Hall of Fame. Our host is Addison Mayor Joe Chow. The new honorees will be welcomed as part of opening night of DFW International Festival Month on Tuesday, March 6 at 6:30 pm at the Addison Conference Centre, 15650 Addison Rd. Honorary Chairperson and Dallas City Council Mayor Pro-Temp Dr. Elba Garcia will introduce the inductees. The Master of Ceremonies will be Dr. Don Benton, retired Senior Pastor of the Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. International hors'deurves and beverages will be provided. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at door and may be purchased through the DFW International website.

The DFW International Hall of Fame recognizes prominent individuals and organizations that have significantly impacted our communities. 2006 honorees included Joe May, Trammell S. Crow, Joe Chow, T. D. Jakes and Ron Anderson. Those inducted into the Hall of Fame have demonstrated dedication to empowering new Americans and minorities, courageous thinking, hard work, innovation, and motivating leadership. They are a true example of the Texas Pioneer Spirit, and a reflection of the pluralism that is the foundation of the American dream.

2007 Inductees:
  • HEALTH - Mosaic Family Services , for creative and dedicated social services that support, educate and empower immigrants and refugees from Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. Founder Dr. Walter Nguyen has raised funds through grants for HIV education and outreach, human trafficking, immigrant civil services, medical services for the elderly, and recently opened the first and only shelter for battered immigrant women in the southwest USA.

  • ARTS and CULTURE – Mr. Raymond D. Nasher , for enabling and encouraging the growth of the major arts organizations in Dallas. Mr. Nasher established the Dallas Business Committee for the Arts and personally finances the highly acclaimed Nasher Sculpture Center. He serves on the boards of several artistic organizations, and his experience as a member of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities provides him with a deep understanding of what constitutes humane and nurturing communities.

  • ENTREPRENEUR – Ms. Anousheh Ansari, for exemplifying the American Dream by capturing headlines around the world as the first female private space explorer and the first astronaut of Iranian descent. Although she did not speak English when she immigrated to the US at the age of 18, Ms. Ansari was determined to pursue her passion for the sciences to the fullest extent. Subsequently she founded Telecom Technologies and currently is Chairman and co-founder of Prodea Systems Technology, headquartered in Plano.

On March 24, 2007, the Texas chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association will be sponsoring “Citizenship Day,” a free citizenship clinic at the Richardson Public Library at 900 Civic Center Drive, Richardson, Texas between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Volunteer attorneys will assist community members with applications to become American citizens. The legal clinic is part of a national campaign organized by the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is part of an effort to inform individuals about citizenship as well as create awareness about immigration issues.

As one of International DFW Month's special events, we are proud to offer you an opportunity to attend an INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITIES MEDIA WORKSHOP at KERA that will show you how to write press releases, promote your events, compete for journalists' attention, and sell more tickets! Please join us!

The workshop is FREE and open to the public but space is limited and you must reserve your spot! We hope this project assists you to achieve greater recognition for the great work you do in your communiy and to build larger audiences and networks. This event is one of more than 20 ethnic community events scheduled during DFW International Month, a month-long celebration highlighting global cultures in North Texas.
