The Asian Breast Health Outreach Project (ABHOP) focus is on minimizing the barriers that keep Asian women from fully participating in the early detection of breast cancer. By addressing language, fear, culture, lack of information, economic and transportation barriers that may have been factors in this priority group, we hope to achieve this goal. By providing educational seminars and distributing literature in their native language, breast health awareness for Asian women will be increased. ABHOP will also provide screening mammography services and referrals at no cost to low-income, medically underserved Asian women originally only in Dallas County and now extended to Collin & Denton Counties. Free screenings and services are conducted at Richardson Regional Medical Center/Center for Women's Health.
