APEX In Action is the name for the Community Service part of our organization. Come and join us as we take Action to make a difference in our community.

Detailed driving direction: If arriving via Park Lane, take the 4th driveway entrance (on your right) into the Stratford Hill Apt Complex. Continue straight through the stop sign, and you will see the Heart House sign & clubhouse. OR If arriving via Skillman, take the 2nd driveway entrance (on your left) into the Stratford Hill Apt Complex. Continue straight through the stop sign, and you will see the Heart House sign & clubhouse.

APEX has been gathering donated computer equipment to help the Heart House afterschool program with their computer lab. Right now, all they've got is a "hodge podge" of equipment where only 4 computers work semi-reliably, so we have gathered computer equipment donations together to improve their situation, so the kids have some better technology to use.

The event will be held at the Heart House at Stratford Hill where we will set up the computers for the Heart House. We've gathered enough equipment, but now need more folks to help build. It's an excellent opportunity to meet people, make a difference, and learn a bit about computers too. After the event is over, we'll all go out to lunch.

Anything we don't use will be "e-recycled," which means that parts of it will be reused and the rest will be safely and securely disposed of. This way, we also do our part for the environment.

Heart House Dallas is a free afterschool program dedicated to providing a safe haven and academic support to children of low-income families in the densely-populated Vickery Meadow community in Dallas, Texas. To learn more, visit www.hearthousedallas.org.

Do you like riding bumper cars and playing basketball? Well you can do both at the same time with Whirlyball! This game combines elements of lacrosse, hockey, and basketball with bumper cars. Each player on a team uses a plastic scoop to pick up the whiffle ball and throw it into the goal, while driving around in a WhirlyBug.

Please join APEX for an hour of competitive, adrenaline pumping, fun! We will probably be able to fit four games into our hour, with two teams (5 players/team) for each game.

Unlimited soda will be provided.

Please RSVP by August 16, 2008 to Pei at peppe@apexdallas.org. For more information on Whirlyball, go to www.whirlyball.info
